North Shore Ventilation Services - Ventilation Vortex Air

Interventions in Laval, Terrebonne, Blainville and surrounding areas — conduits, exchangers, dryers.

Welcome to Ventilation Vortex Air, your local team for improved air quality on the North Shore. For over 10 years, we've been helping families and businesses in Laval, Terrebonne, Blainville, Saint-Jérôme, Mirabel, Deux-Montagnes, Rosemère and surrounding areas breathe easier at home.

We specialize in the cleaning, decontamination and complete maintenance of residential and commercial ventilation systems. Our team of 5+ INVC (and current NADCA) certified technicians travels quickly to the North Shore with the professional equipment needed for a job well done.

Why North Shore homeowners trust us

The North Shore is our home turf. We're familiar with the distinctive features of the homes here: the 70s bungalows in Laval, the two-generation homes in Terrebonne, the new buildings in Mirabel and the modern condos in Blainville.

We also know that winter here is long, and that heating systems work hard from November to April. Ducts collect dust, frosted heat pumps lose their efficiency and clogged dryer ducts become a real hazard when everyone's doing intensive laundry.

What sets us apart on the North Shore:

We move quickly. Our offices are at 9187 Boulevard de l'Acadie in Montreal, but we serve the North Shore every day. Laval? We're there in 15 minutes. Terrebonne or Blainville? 25-30 minutes maximum.

We document everything with before-and-after photos and a full inspection report. Handy if you need to submit an insurance claim or prove maintenance when reselling your home.

Mohamed and Omar, our co-owners, personally supervise the projects. You're not dealing with a big, impersonal machine - you're talking directly to the people doing the work.

We offer a free, no-obligation inspection. No pressure, no hard sell. We tell you what needs to be done, and you decide when and how.

Our prices are transparent. Written quotes, clear options, no hidden fees. We respect your budget.

Over 500 satisfied customers in the Greater Montreal area - many of them on the North Shore - have put their trust in us. And that counts for something.

Our ventilation services on the North Shore

Here's what we can do for you. Each service includes a documented inspection and a full report.

Duct cleaning on the North Shore

That's our specialty. We thoroughly clean your entire air distribution network: main ducts, secondary branches, plenums, air returns.

How it's done:

We start with an HD camera inspection to assess the actual condition of your ducts. Then we use pneumatic rotary brushes and air whips to loosen dust, construction debris, renovation residues and stuck-on build-up.

Everything is extracted by a HEPA system (truck-mounted or portable) which captures 99.97 % of particles of 0.3 µm and above. If leaks or poorly sealed junctions are found, they can be plugged and leak-tested.

Why it's important on the North Shore:

Many of the houses here were built in the 70s and 90s and have never had their ducts cleaned. That's decades of dust, pollen, pet hair and sometimes even mold if moisture has seeped in.

New buildings in Mirabel or Terrebonne often have gypsum and sawdust residues circulating in the ducts for years after construction.

Proper cleaning improves air quality, reduces allergens, optimizes the performance of your HVAC system and can reduce your Hydro-Québec bill by 10 to 20 %.

When to have your ducts cleaned:

Cleaning is recommended every 3 to 5 years for residential properties. If you've just renovated your basement, had a flood in the spring, or smell something strange when the heat goes off in the fall, now's the time to call.

For businesses - especially restaurants, day-care centers and offices - annual cleaning is often necessary to meet health and insurance standards.

Decontamination of ventilation systems on the North Shore

When standard cleaning isn't enough, we switch to decontamination. This service eliminates active biological contaminants such as mold, biofilms and bacteria.

When do you need decontamination?

After basement flooding (common in spring on the North Shore with melting snow). If you see traces of mold near your grilles or in your plenums. If a musty smell persists even after a thorough cleaning. If a family member suffers from allergies or worsening respiratory problems at home. After a sewer backup or major water damage.

What we do:

We start by taking biological samples, if necessary, to identify the type of contamination. Next, Health Canada-certified antimicrobial agents are applied, portable UV-C disinfection is used, and controlled fogging is performed to reach all internal surfaces.

You receive a full decontamination report - essential for insurance claims and for your peace of mind.

Our products are safe. We use approved solutions, with residue-free options suitable for families with children and pets. We ventilate properly and respect drying times before you move back in.

Eliminating ventilation odors on the North Shore

A musty, musty or burnt smell coming from your air vents? It's rarely just a dirty filter.

Odors can come from mold hidden in the ducts, dust accumulated on the heat exchanger, clogs in the condensate drain pan or even small animals (mice, squirrels) that have sneaked into the system.

We find the source and eliminate it. Sometimes it takes a complete cleaning. Other times, targeted decontamination or antimicrobial treatment is all that's needed.

Wall unit and heat pump cleaning on the North Shore

Heat pumps and mini-split units are everywhere on the North Shore. They heat in winter and cool in summer - but they need regular maintenance to stay efficient.

What we clean:

Evaporator coils, often covered with sticky dust, biofilm and sometimes mould. Condensation tray and drain, to prevent overflow and odors. Filters, which we disinfect or recommend replacing, depending on their condition.

After cleaning, we run a performance test to make sure your unit is cooling or heating as it should.

Result: Improved seasonal efficiency, reduced unpleasant odours and recovery of original performance. Your electricity bills will go down.

How often? We suggest an annual inspection and annual or biennial cleaning, depending on use. If you use your heat pump year-round, one cleaning a year is ideal - ideally in the spring before the air-conditioning season.

Dryer vent cleaning on the North Shore

It's a service that's all too often overlooked, but one that can literally save lives. Lint builds up in the flue, reducing airflow and creating a serious fire hazard.

Every year, dryer fires are reported in Quebec - many of them on the North Shore. Most could have been avoided with a simple annual cleaning.

We remove everything: compacted lint, clogs, debris. Clear the outside damper (often frozen in winter or blocked by leaves), check the draught and inspect the joints for leaks.

Signs that it's time:

Your dryer takes two cycles to dry a normal load. The top of the dryer becomes very hot during use. You smell something burning. The outer flap no longer opens when the dryer is running. You see lint accumulating around the dryer.

Recommended frequency: Once a year, or as soon as you notice a loss of efficiency. If you have a large family and do a lot of washing, consider doing it twice a year.

Furnace cleaning on the North Shore

North Shore winters are long and cold. Your furnace works hard from late October to late April - sometimes even into May.

Regular maintenance ensures clean combustion, prevents carbon monoxide leaks and extends the life of your components.

What we do:

We clean the heat exchanger, brush the burners, vacuum with a HEPA system and check the combustion and safety devices.

Good furnace maintenance improves energy efficiency (important when Hydro-Québec raises rates) and reduces the risk of breakdowns in the middle of January.

Central system cleaning on the North Shore

If you have a central heating and air-conditioning system, we take care of the whole thing: ducts, furnace, outdoor air-conditioning unit, plenums, air returns.

It's a complete procedure that ensures that every component is working properly and that the air circulates without obstruction.

Particularly important for bi-generation homes or multi-level properties - common in Terrebonne and Blainville.

Air exchanger cleaning (HRV) on the North Shore

Air exchangers (HRVs - heat recovery ventilators) are essential in modern, well-insulated homes. They renew indoor air while recovering heat.

Many new buildings in Mirabel, Sainte-Thérèse and Boisbriand are equipped with HRVs - but few owners know that they need to be cleaned regularly.

If the core and filters become clogged, efficiency drops and stale air remains inside. You're paying to heat new air without recovering the heat.

We disassemble and clean the core, change or clean filters, and check connections and drains. The result is fresh air coming in and controlled energy consumption.

Bathroom fan cleaning on the North Shore

Bathroom fans are often overlooked, but they play a key role in evacuating humidity and preventing mold.

When clogged, they become noisy, inefficient - and sometimes even dangerous if the engine overheats.

Disassemble, clean the impeller and motor, degrease and disinfect the short duct. You'll be back with a quiet, efficient fan that really gets rid of humidity.

Complete ventilation inspection on the North Shore

Not sure what you need? We offer a free, no-obligation full inspection.

We examine your ducts with an HD camera, assess the condition of your HVAC system, identify potential problems (leaks, clogging, contamination) and give you a report with clear recommendations.

You then decide whether you want to proceed - we never push to sell unnecessary services.

Our process - clear, secure, documented

Here's how we work on the North Shore. No mystery, no surprises.

Free inspection

We always start with a visual inspection and, if necessary, with an endoscopic camera. We want to see the actual condition of your system before we suggest anything.

2. Written quotation

You receive a detailed quotation with the scope of work, the options available (standard cleaning vs. decontamination) and our recommendations. It's all in writing - no gray areas.

3. Preparation and containment

We seal air vents and protect floors and furniture. If decontamination is necessary, we create negative pressure to prevent recontamination of other rooms.

4. Mechanical cleaning

Rotary brushes, air whips and a HEPA vacuum system are used to remove all dirt, dust and debris.

5. Further treatment

Depending on the diagnosis, an antimicrobial treatment is applied or UV-C disinfection is used to eliminate biological contaminants.

6. Verification and validation

We carry out flow tests if necessary, take photos after cleaning and provide you with a full report.

7. Follow-up and warranty

You receive a service certificate and maintenance recommendations to maximize the life of your system. If something goes wrong, we come back and fix it - that's our satisfaction guarantee.

Equipment and standards

We don't work with hardware store tools. We use professional equipment designed for the job:

Truck-mounted and portable HEPA vacuums (99.97 % filtration of particles ≥ 0.3 µm). Pneumatic rotary brushes and air whips for round and rectangular ducts. HD inspection cameras for before-and-after documentation. Portable UV-C generators and controlled nebulizers for antimicrobial treatments.

Our procedures comply with CVRI standards (we are certified) and we are in the process of obtaining NADCA certification. We also follow Health Canada recommendations for all our products and methods.

Signs that it's time to call us

Not sure if you need a cleaning? Here are some warning signs:

Persistent musty odours, even after cleaning. Constant dusting hours after sweeping. Some air vents blow weakly or irregularly. Your dryer takes forever to dry your clothes. You see traces of mold near the grilles or in the plenums. You've just experienced a spring flood (common with snowmelt). You've completed a major renovation or new construction. A family member is coughing, sneezing or has itchy eyes - especially at home.

If you recognize one or more of these signs, it's probably time to have your system inspected.
